In order to truly understand the genre we are using for our video, I felt it necessary to research further into the history of the genre. I compiled a series of slides explaining various components that have come together to help build the genre or movement into what it is today.
The Hip Hop genre is relatively new to the music world meaning that some of our research into its artists and music may not be as specific as we would have liked. Here is what one website had to say on the matter:
"Hip hop is relatively new to the world of music as it has only been recognized for a few decades. This leaves the creative door open for writers to produce material for the hip hop genre style of music that is original and genre specific."
